For some time now, a mod has been in existence which allows for the UI to be transparent. This helps incredibly with allowing the player to see pistons, wheels, rotors and other interactive items while adjusting settings.

So the other folks on your server will just have the vanilla UI .

Please check in Options->Game, whether the transparency sliders are too far left (probably). The tooltip would be Change opacity of UI dialogs.
