Strand Displacement Amplification Bd

1/1/2002  · The BDProbeTec-SDA system (Becton Dickinson Microbiology Systems, Sparks, Md.) is a new semiautomated system which uses strand displacement amplification for the simultaneous detection of C. trachomatis and N. gonorrhoeae. Products are detected in solution with fluorescent detector probes.

Strand displacement amplification is an isothermal process that permits 10(10)-fold amplification of a DNA target sequence in as little as 15 min. In the form of the BD ProbeTec ET System, strand displacement amplification was the first nucleic acid amplification technology to be coupled with real-time homogeneous fluorescence-based detection for routine application in the clinical laboratory.

BD ProbeTec ™ Q x Amplified DNA Assays provide accurate and relevant clinical answers for your patients. With the BD Viper system in Extracted mode, it uses strand displacement amplification technology for direct, qualitative detection. BD ProbeTec assays available for.

One set of samples underwent strand displacement amplification for 4 hours at 45° C. upon addition of 4 Units 5′ 3′ exonuclease deficient klenow fragment of DNA polymerase I (US Biochemical, Cleveland, Ohio) and 48 Units NciI (New England Biolabs). A second set of samples were run without the polymerase and without NciI as unamplified standards.
